Board of Directors

Mark Luby

Chairman

Mark Luby

Mark Luby is a lifelong Altrincham supporter and local businessman who brings more than 25 years of business leadership to his role as Chairman. Managing Director of European Braking Systems Ltd, where he has served as a director since April 2000, Mark attended Altrincham Grammar School for Boys and has lived in the area throughout his life.

His connection with Alty stretches back decades, including watching both FA Trophy victories at Wembley. After stepping away from the board while completing the sale of his business, he returned in 2025 in an executive capacity and as part of the club’s investor group.

During his earlier spell on the board, Mark helped deliver the home Fan Zone, bringing his practical knowledge of the stadium to a project that has become an established part of matchdays.

As Chairman, Mark leads the Board of Directors and sets the club’s strategic direction, overseeing its football, commercial and operational priorities. Working with his fellow directors and the club’s leadership team, he guides investment and key business decisions, with the ambition of taking Altrincham into the Football League while building the financial and organisational foundations for sustained success.

John Coyne

Director

John Coyne

John Coyne brings experience in professional football, business leadership and sports administration to the board. An Everton Academy graduate, he signed for Wigan Athletic after leaving school and subsequently spent a decade playing at the upper levels of non league football.

John is Managing Director of Venditan, the UK retail technology and eCommerce business he has helped develop over more than 20 years. He regularly speaks at European technology events covering eCommerce, financial technology and artificial intelligence.

Before joining Altrincham in November 2019, John served on the board at Swinton Lions Rugby League Club, helping the organisation regain financial stability and achieve its best Championship finish in almost five decades.

At Alty, his work has included helping the club navigate the pandemic and promotion, developing its digital operations, expanding online retail and opening a town centre shop. He also led negotiations for the PUMA kit agreement and helped bring retail, ticketing, hospitality and sponsorship together through a single supporter account.

John continues to contribute across the club’s football, commercial and operational activities.

Sam Mackenzie

Director

Sam Mackenzie

Sam Mackenzie joined Altrincham in September 2020 as a volunteer, taking responsibility for partnerships and sponsorships. She was appointed to the Board of Directors in May 2021 and remains a director of the club.

Having become interim Chief Executive in December 2023, Sam was appointed permanently in June 2024, becoming Altrincham’s first female CEO. Her time in the role encompassed substantial commercial and organisational development.

Sam helped grow the club’s sponsorship portfolio and build lasting relationships with commercial partners. She also played an important part in establishing and developing the AFC Business Club and strengthening links with Altrincham BID.

Her contribution has extended into the community through projects including the Warm Space initiative, alongside work supporting the welfare of players, staff and their families. These activities reflect the importance she places on the people involved in the club and its role in the wider town.

Sam continues to bring that experience and those relationships to the board, supporting the club’s ongoing development.
