Altrincham FC Women are at home for the first time in a competitive game this season, hosting Wythenshawe Town Women at Partington Sports Village on Wednesday, August 26 (7:30pm kick off)

A busy opening schedule continues for the Robins with their third game in the space of a week, and they'll be back at Partington again on Sunday against Bury FC Women Reserves.

The Season So Far

The Robins will be looking to bounce back from Sunday's defeat in the Women's FA Cup, whilst building on an opening day victory in the North West Women's Regional Football League Division One Central a week ago.

Alty Women have been placed into a third different league in as many seasons, but began with a 1-0 victory against Stockport County Women Development under the floodlights of Stockport Sports Village, thanks to Nat Lowe's first-half strike.

Daryll Abrahams' side were less successful in the Women's FA Cup preliminary round against Morecambe FC Women. Georgia McKnight got the visitors off to a great start though ultimately the Shrimps came out 3-1 winners.

Elite U18 players stepping up

With the games coming thick and fast in August, Alty, like every team, have had players unavailable due to holidays, work commitments and injuries. That being said, many players from the Elite U18 squad have stepped up superbly.

Tia Unwin, Mia Bradley, Shanai Underwood, Florence Munt and Toni Williams have stepped up in the opening two games, with more expected to be involved this week.

Wythenshawe Town Women

Previously under the Manchester Laces name, Wythenshawe Town Women joined Altrincham FC Women in switching from Division One South to Division One Central.

Laces defeated Alty in both league games last season and finished third behind Nantwich and Chester.

The Robins faced Wythenshawe Town in their opening pre-season friendly last month, losing out 4-0.

"The team we are playing against are very physical and very experienced. We played them in pre-season, obviously the result doesn't really tell a full story of players' availability.

"It'll be good to get back home and good to play against this opposition. I've never beaten them (Wythenshawe), so we need to bounce back from tonight (defeat against Morecambe)

"If we can end Wednesday night with two wins, two clean sheets and a positive goal difference, it shows a really good start to the campaign."

Partington Sports Village

We can't wait to get back home tomorrow for the first time this season. If it's your first time, head to the 4G pitch on the far side. Parking is limited in the car park so car sharing is advised and there's plenty of on-street parking nearby. If you're on public transport, Partington is best served by the 255 bus from Manchester City Centre.
