Altrincham 2 Everton NWC 4

After a scrappy start from both teams, Altrincham settled into their stride and started playing their football, and it led to an opening goal for the young Robins soon after the 10-minute mark.

The goal came after a superb passage of play, as the ball was switched to winger Lewis Broderick (pictured), who crossed for midfielder Will Molloy to tap home his third in three games.

The pressure continued to be applied by Alty, who dominated the first half-an-hour and were rewarded with a second goal after an outstanding volley by Broderick flew past the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Late on in the half, Everton began to build momentum and eventually got one back after a free-kick from just outside the edge of the box was slotted into the bottom left corner.

Everton’s momentum did not falter in the second half, as they continued to press hard and battle, and they managed to grab an equaliser from a brilliant header from a great delivery.

Quickly after, this was followed up by a wonder strike into the top right corner from Everton’s winger, after he latched on to a ball over the top and produced some tricky play to cut inside to and get his shot away.

Alty then set about applying pressure on Everton and began to create chances which unfortunately could not be taken.

Later on, Everton had a corner which eventually led to a handball and a penalty, which they took calmly to secure a win that only came after a tough battle.
