A midweek trip to Wealdstone

After back-to-back home games in two different cup competitions, Alty return to league action on Tuesday, travelling to London to face Wealdstone (Kick-off 7.45pm).

Setting the Scene

After the short hiatus to play in the National League Cup and FA Trophy, of which both games produced positive results for Phil Parkinson's men, the Robins return to Vanarama National League action in ninth place, just one point behind the play-off positions. Our opponents Wealdstone find themselves in 20th, only outside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Their league position does not tell the full story, however. Wealdstone have not lost in the league since October 19, winning three and drawing two in the process.

Furthermore, an impressive victory over Grimsby Town in the FA Cup First Round
highlights their quality, and they are not a side that can be underestimated.

The Gaffer

It doesn’t get much harder than a rearranged Tuesday night fixture against
Wealdstone where the lads are going to be on the coach for five hours, but that’s
why it was important that we made sure we didn’t risk anyone like Lewis Baines,
James Jones today (against Macclesfield).

Hopefully, some of the forwards will be returning sooner rather than later because we’re going to need them – we need everybody to really kick on in the league.

Last time against Wealdstone

March 2024 – Altrincham cruised to a dominant victory over Wealdstone on the last occasion that the two sides met.

Wealdstone took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Charlie Barker, but an emphatic response saw Alex Newby, George Wilson, Lewis Banks and Regan Linney score for Alty in a 4-1 win.
