Lynch at the double as Alty youngsters turn on the style

Altrincham U-19s 5 Chesterfield U-19s 2
Report by Alty player Loui Williams
This week, Altrincham's Academy hosted Chesterfield in the National League North Division at Egerton, and the aim was to continue the momentum gained from their dominant outing the week before against Solihull Moors.
This would be no easy task against a strong Chesterfield side, who managed to be the only team to beat Alty twice last year.
The Robins started the game in fast and aggressive fashion and began to create some good chances in the attacking third.
This positive start was rewarded 15 minutes in, as right-back Ewan McGeady played a great pass in between the defensive line for striker Adam Lynch to take around the keeper and calmly slot the ball in the back of the net for the opening goal.
It wasn’t long before Alty doubled their lead, as right winger Loui Williams pressed the Chesterfield goalkeeper and managed to win the ball before cutting it back for attacking midfielder Sheriff Nije, who despatched his shot beyond a line of defenders on the line to make it 2-0.
However, Chesterfield did not roll over, and, towards the end of the half, they began to build momentum with several attacks that were snuffed out by some good defending from McGeady, Joel Bailey, Liam Evans and Eddie Igeze.
An injury to McGeady forced Altrincham to make a first-half substitution, as Sammy Bonney Phillips replaced him in the back four.
Chesterfield's efforts were finally rewarded with the last kick of the first half, due to a loss of concentration which allowed the right winger to cut the ball back for the number nine, who had an easy finish.
Chesterfield entered the second half with all the momentum, but the Robins didn’t crack under the pressure, defending well with goalkeeper Dane Byron making some crucial saves from point-blank range.
Alty built on their defensive resilience with a third goal 10 minutes into the second half as a long ball over the left-back's head was capitalised on by Williams, who drove forward and squared it for Lynch to finish into an empty net for the Robins' third and his second of the game.
The young Robins had no intention of taking their foot off the gas and found themselves leading by three goals around 10 minutes later, as left winger Ryan Morton went on a great run and rounded it off with a cool finish under the goalkeeper.
A brief loss of concentration resulted in a second for Chesterfield as the ball was intercepted while trying to play out from the back.
Using the setback as a wake-up call, Altrincham pursued another goal to see the game out.
Around 15 minutes later, Owen German played a good ball out to Williams, who got the better of his full-back and was eventually brought down in the opposition box, winning a penalty for the Robins.
Up stepped Alty number six German to send the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot, smashing the ball into the bottom left corner to maintain his perfect penalty-taking record.
Some good saves from Byron safeguarded Alty's three-goal advantage and ensured their second win in as many weeks.
