Loan Watch | Owen and Lucas on target this week

Lucas Weaver added yet another goal to his tally for the season in a very successful week for Altrincham’s loanees, as all four loan players were victorious in the various games they played.

After scoring seven goals in his previous four games, Weaver scored once more to help Bamber Bridge into the FA Trophy Second Round Proper on Saturday.

Brig faced Workington AFC, another club in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, and Weaver made an immediate impression on the game, but not with a goal. Instead, he won the ball back on the edge of Workington’s box before sliding a clever ball towards Michael Potts, who gave Weaver’s side the lead after four minutes.

The visitors managed to double their lead, but after quickly being pegged back to 2-1, Weaver stepped up once again to provide Brig with some breathing room. He beat his defender, cutting inside from the right and whipped his shot into the far top left corner; his superb strike proved to be enough to get his team over the line, as Bamber Bridge emerged from the game as 3-2 victors.

Elsewhere, Owen German scored his first goal for Witton Albion in a hugely significant week for his, and Alty youngster Joel Bailey’s, loan club.

German’s goal came after only four minutes in Albion’s 2-1 victory away from home against Newcastle Town on Tuesday. After an impressive win against Congleton Town in their previous fixture, German’s goal helped Witton leapfrog Newcastle in the table and move further away from the division’s brewing relegation battle.

Then, on Saturday, another stellar performance against Stafford Rangers saw them pick up their third consecutive win. As of today, they sit in 11th, with 19 points from the 12 games they have played.

Finally, one of Altrincham’s first year academy players, Max Beddow, has recently moved on loan to Redgate Clayton FC in the Staffordshire County Senior League.

At only 16 years of age, playing senior football at any level is extremely impressive, especially as a goalkeeper, but keeping a clean sheet in a 4-0 win to go top of the league makes it even more special.

Many thanks to Spencer Hayes Group & Darren Harrison (Lucas Weaver) and Ian Watmore (Owen German) for sponsoring our youngsters this season.
