George heading to Redditch in month-long loan deal
GEORGE Burroughs is joining Redditch United on loan until the New Year in a move aimed at providing him with valuable extra game time.
The Alty right-back played the full 90 minutes and figured prominently on Tuesday evening as the Robins booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Cheshire Senior Cup with an emphatic 4-0 win over Stalybridge Celtic at The J.Davidson Stadium.
But he has generally been short of opportunities, due to the form of Lewis Banks and also Justin Donawa's ability to fill any of the roles on the right flank, and it was felt a loan spell at a competitive level would be of benefit.
Promotion hopefuls Redditch fit the bill, and George will be boosting their push for a play-off place in the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central Division until early in January.
Redditch are currently ninth in the table but are only two points behind the team occupying the final play-off place, Nuneaton Borough, and George could be in for a debut at home to lowly Royston Town on Saturday.
Good luck at the Valley Stadium, George, and we look forward to welcoming you back all the better for the experience in the New Year.
Meanwhile, striker Gez Sithole has returned to his parent club Bolton Wanderers, and we would like to thank him for his efforts over the past couple of months, and keeper Ollie Byrne is back at The J.Davidson Stadium after completing his loan spell with League of Ireland club Cork City.
