Field of expertise! Adam's the man to keep Alty pitch in tip-top shape

Altrincham FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Adam Lawrence as our new head groundsman.

Adam was selected from an impressive list of applicants after spending the last three years tending pitches at Stoke City and the FA's St George's Park headquarters.

He starts work at The J.Davidson Stadium later this month, and after his appointment was confirmed, he took to social media to tweet:

"Job offer accepted, so excited to become a head groundsman! Can’t wait to get started! Looking forward to joining @altrinchamfc in September!"

Adam began to gain a reputation for helping prepare and maintain playing surfaces of the highest standard as part of the ground staff at the DW Stadium, where Wigan Athletic and Wigan Warriors rugby league team shared the same pitch.

He further developed his knowledge of turf management, care and renovation, as well as irrigation and mechanics, as training ground head groundsman and stadium deputy head groundsman at Shrewsbury Town from 2017-19.

More invaluable experience followed at Stoke's stadium and Clayton Wood training complex, as pictured, and at St George's, and after spending the last three years in those roles, Adam felt he was ready to branch out and take on the responsibility of being in charge of ground upkeep at a professional football club.

Alty were happy to oblige, and Adam will take up his duties as Neil Brown's successor later this month, with interim cover in place in the meantime.

In extending a warm welcome to Adam, everyone at the club would like to wish him a happy and successful stay at The J.Davidson Stadium.
