Countdown to new season starts here as Robins head to Giant Axe

By Joe Brayne
Altrincham will launch their 2023-24 pre-season campaign at the Giant Axe on Saturday in a North-West friendly against Lancaster City (3pm kick-off).

Alty have undergone a significant transformation during the summer transfer window, with eight new signings joining the ranks and four players leaving, including the departure of fan-favourite Jordan Hulme.

Phil Parkinson has a wealth of talent to tinker with over our six friendlies as he looks to finalise his starting line-up for the upcoming season. For supporters, the game represents an opportunity to cast an eye over recent arrivals Dior Angus,
Lewis Banks, Joey Jones, Sam Roscoe, Chris Conn-Clarke, Justin Amaluzor, Justin Donawa, and George Wilson.

Alty are intent on building upon last season’s 17th-place finish in the Vanarama National League, and Saturday’s pre-season opener will provide the perfect platform to integrate the new players and showcase their skills.

The encounter holds extra significance as the Dolly Blues seek revenge for their league double defeat at the hands of Altrincham during the 2017-18 season.

About the Opposition
Lancaster City have established themselves as a formidable force in the Pitching In Northern Premier League following their Division One North title-winning campaign in the 2016-17 season.

One player to watch out for is the prolific Nic Evangelinos, who found the back of the net 11 times last season, emerging as Lancaster's leading scorer. Evangelinos highlighted his attacking threat with an impressive hat-trick against Morpeth Town in the Isuzu FA Trophy.

The Giant Axe will also welcome back Alty’s former Lancaster left-back, Liam Brockbank, who continues his recovery from a long-term injury.

Moreover, the Dolly Blues have first-hand knowledge of Regan Linney’s attacking prowess after the Alty striker scored against City last October when he was playing for FC United of Manchester.
