Alty looking for new women's team boss as Alex heads to Everton

Applications are invited for the post of Altrincham women's team manager after Alex Hilton-Slee left to take up an exciting opportunity to join the coaching staff of Barclays WSL side Everton.

Alex has transformed the fortunes of our women's team since being appointed last June and has led them top the top of the Cheshire Women's and Youth League Premier Division in his first season in charge.

His impact has not gone unnoticed, and when the women's set-up at Everton offered him a full-time role as Academy goalkeeper coach, it proved too good to turn down.

All at Alty are naturally sorry to see him go but fully understand his decision to accept such a position with a club the size of Everton and are grateful for all he has done to ensure our women's squad is in significantly better shape than when he arrived.

Simon Dow, Head Of Community, commented:

“After a difficult season last year, the appointment of Alex to manage the women's team for this season was instrumental in the fantastic season the team are having.

"Through his excellent manner and ability to motivate and develop players, the potential of the excellent squad is now being realised with their current position at the top of the Cheshire Women’s and Youth League Premier Division.

"The opportunity for Alex to move on to full-time employment at Everton FC Women's Academy is fantastic for him and highlights the fantastic job he has done for Altrincham FC.

"I would like to personally thank Alex for the work he has done with the women’s team this season and wish him luck with his future.”

Alex admitted he will be taking fond memories with him as he makes his way to Goodison Park, ahead of the Toffees' switch to their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Reflecting on his time at The J.Davidson Stadium, he said:

“Thank you to everyone associated with the club - players, coaches, staff and the fantastic media team, including Radio Alty, who have been amazing with me and the team this season.

"You have given us some unforgettable experiences and invaluable exposure, which we are so grateful for.

"Finally, thank you to Simon for giving me the opportunity to manage such an incredible group of players and thank you to the players for reminding me why I love this game so much.

"Wishing the team all the best for the rest of the season.”

Coaches Duncan Jones, Spencer O'Connor and Alex Wall have been placed in temporary charge for the rest of this season, with four more league games to play and one cup tie.

But the club are already planning ahead and are accepting applications now for a successor to Alex as women's team manager, in an effort to give the successful candidate every chance to prepare as thoroughly as possible for the start of next season.

Applications should be emailed to lynda@altyfc.com.
