Tea with Matty and Isaac - it made our day, say Halecroft Grange

Words by John Edwards

Putting a smile on faces has long been a prime objective for Altrincham players, and it will surprise no-one that some are able to do it without stepping on the pitch.

Matty Kosylo and Isaac Marriott are both recovering from pre-season knee injuries and working flat out to be fit again as soon as possible.

But that didn’t stop them taking time out to spend a few hours with the residents of Halecroft Grange in Hale, where the two Alty midfielders proved themselves exemplary ambassadors for the club.

In a surprise visit organised by club director Sam Mackenzie, Matty and Isaac chatted and joked with residents over afternoon tea and made everyone’s day with their willingness to commit so wholeheartedly to another shining example of Alty’s work in the community.

The occasion was particularly joyful for one of the residents, Stan Riley (pictured above with Matty and Isaac), a lifelong Alty fan and well known to many at The J.Davidson Stadium, who now has a picture of himself alongside Matty and Isaac as a lasting reminder of their visit.

‘What a wonderful afternoon,’ said Halecroft's Regina Silva. ‘The residents were so happy, and it was extra special for Stan, because Altrincham FC means so much to him.

‘The boys were amazing, so social and engaging - everyone is being so complimentary about their manners.

‘We can’t thank the club enough for supporting us and organising a special afternoon for our residents. We would love for you to visit again.’
