The play-off battle intensifies

Alty face local rivals Rochdale for the third time this season as the Dale visit The J. Davidson Stadium in a Vanarama National League play-off race showdown on Good Friday (kick-off 3pm).

Setting The Scene

Following Saturday’s defeat at Boston, Alty sit 8th in the table, still within touching distance of the play-offs. Our visitors on Friday are just two places and four points above us, so a win would be hugely significant in our ongoing pursuit of a top-seven finish, heading into Easter Monday's equally significant clash at FC Halifax Town.

Since the turn of the year, our Good Friday opponents Rochdale have not matched their impressive form of 2024. They’ve won just two of their previous nine, but their league position and run to the semi-finals of the FA Trophy highlight the quality they possess.

The thoughts of Phil Parkinson

“We're still in it, we're still trying, still fighting and still working extremely hard. Any team who can grab a couple of wins over the next few weeks will find themselves in the play-offs, and we want to be that team."

Earlier this season

March 2025 – Altrincham were on the end of a 3-0 defeat on the last occasion these two sides met, at the Crown Oil Arena last month.

The first half ended goalless, but goals from Aidan Barlow, Jay Bird and Kairo Mitchell in the second half won Rochdale the three points.
