Altrincham look to end their pre-season programme with a bang against Manchester United under-21s at The J.Davidson Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off).

Fresh from an impressive 2-1 derby victory over Macclesfield FC on Wednesday, the Robins will be eager to carry that momentum forward. The match enjoyed an extra bite as five yellow cards were shown during a competitive game.

Phil Parkinson praised his side’s ability to compete in hostile conditions, saying: “I knew there would be a bit of angst around the game. That is what you need going into the season - you don’t want shadow play.”

Following several strong individual showings over the past three weeks of friendlies, Alty fans could well witness Parkinson’s starting XI for the season on Sunday.

About the Opposition

A youthful United side will arrive on Sunday off the back of their intense San Diego showdown against Wrexham.

Our trio of United loanees from last season - Joe Hugill, Maxi Oyedele (pictured on the main news page) and Sonny Aljofree - all featured in the United States. Sunday will provide a return to familiar territory, with all three players having helped Altrincham compete in the Vanarama
National League last season.

With a competitive Premier League 2 season looming and the opportunity for enticing loan moves, Manchester United under-21s will be keen to showcase their talents in front of a large crowd.
