ALTY continue their push for a play-off spot in the Vanarama National League as we welcome Wealdstone to The J. Davidson Stadium this Tuesday (7.45pm).

The Robins (8th, 61pts) fell to a disappointing 3-2 home defeat against Gateshead at the weekend, but remain in close contention for a quarter-final play-off spot as just five points separate us from fourth-placed Solihull Moors.

Meanwhile, the Stones (16th, 47pts) will arrive in Cheshire in high spirits having secured two wins and two draws in their past five matches, a spell of fine form that has helped lift our visitors out of the relegation zone.

Hear from the Gaffer

Silver linings in defeat: “It is hard to talk about positives after we have just lost, but one positive is certainly the way that we played in the first half. We also saw the Dan Mooney of old, the player that I have seen in training lately, so it was great to see him able to do it when he was introduced today.”

Necessary to find home form: “Recently, our home form has been indifferent. That is what the team needs to turn around, we have to find the home form that we enjoyed at the start of the season. Ultimately, everybody is capable of beating anyone in the division - I’m certain every manager in the league has said it. So home-field advantage must (be made to) count for something.”

Last time against Wealdstone

Wealdstone 0-0 Altrincham

Last September – Altrincham were forced to work hard for their point at The Vale as Wealdstone threatened regularly throughout the goalless draw.

An injury-stricken Robins XI found possession difficult to come by in a cagey affair, but a solid rear-guard showing ensured we returned from Middlesex with a point.
