Owen to continue progress with Ashton loan move

Midfield prospect Owen German is to continue his development with another loan spell after agreeing to join Ashton United for the rest of the calendar year.

Altrincham's highly-regarded young central midfielder has already benefitted from several loans in recent seasons and is looking forward to testing himself in the competitive environment of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division in the coming months.

A product of Crewe Alexandra's renowned Academy prior to joining Alty, the 20-year old has signed for Steve Cunningham's side until January and is set for an immediate debut against Hebburn Town at Hurst Cross this evening.

It's a big game for a team also known as the Robins, with Cunningham looking for a response to Saturday's 4-1 home loss to Whitby Town and knowing that victory would take his side above tonight's opponents in the table and possibly as high as 10th place.

Owen had spells with Wythenshawe Town, Warrington Rylands and Stafford Rangers, before signing a new contract at The J.Davidson Stadium in the summer of 2024, and he made a favourable impression on loan at Alfreton Town towards the end of last season and in the opening month of the current campaign.

All the best in your time at Hurst Cross, Owen, and we all hope you once more feel the benefit of playing first-team football at a senior, competitive level.
