CENTRAL defender Joel Bailey has signed for NPL Divison One West side Witton Albion on a season-long loan deal.

The 18-year-old, who's impressed during pre-season outings for the Robins against Colne, Cheadle Heath Nomads, Warrington Town, Salford City, Chester and Bradford City, signed his first professional contract with Alty earlier in the summer after coming through our academy.

"We're really pleased that we've been able to get Joel a loan to Witton Albion. A club who should help develop and grow Joel to the levels he needs to get to be  closer to the Altrincham first team.

"A club that has Ben Harrison there, and the Alty faithful will know just how important Ben was when we first came in at Altrincham. Those fans who can remember Ben as a player will see those similarities in Joel. Physically and the way he plays the game. He's a perfect match to help Joel's development.

"We've had success in recent season with our loans. We found the right loans for Owen German last year and hopefully this is another one where we can help a player get to where he wants to be, through our player pathway." - Phil Parkinson
