The weekend is almost here

Altrincham welcome Braintree Town to The J. Davidson Stadium as we return to action in the Vanarama National League on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

An unbeaten start to 2025

Our previous fixture ended dramatically, as a superb late winner saw Altrincham beat Eastleigh and progress through the Isuzu FA Trophy Fifth Round.

Heading into the game, the Spitfires were the only visiting National League team to win at The J. Davidson Stadium this season, and they proved their quality once again on Saturday. It was a nervy affair, but a moment of supreme quality from Regan Linney in the 90th minute earned the Robins a spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.

In the league, other results since our draw against Forest Green mean that we have dropped into eighth place. We find ourselves level on points with Rochdale in seventh, and just three points behind in-form Halifax in sixth. Saturday’s opponents currently sit in 18th, five points clear of the relegation zone.

Despite their league position, The Iron are undergoing a fine run of results. They are unbeaten in four, with impressive wins over Solihull Moors and Ebbsfleet, and they have only lost one game since Christmas.

Over the course of the season, they have struggled to pick up points away from home, but their three wins on the road have all come since the start of November, highlighting an upturn in form.

The thoughts of Neil Sorvel

"We're on a good run, five unbeaten since the turn of the year, and our home form speaks for itself. We have to be confident heading into Saturday's game, ahead of what is a very tough run of away games coming up."

Last time against Braintree Town

October 2024 – In the previous meeting between the two sides this season, The Iron earned the three points with a 2-0 win at the Rare Breed Meat Co. Stadium.

An early goal from Jermaine Francis was followed by a John Akinde penalty in added time of the second half as the Iron won for just the third time this season.
