Gateshead v Altrincham match preview
Words by Joe Ward
Alty travel to Gateshead tonight for the second time in two weeks ahead of the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round replay (7:45 kick-off).
For a second season running, The Robins will face Gateshead in a FA Cup replay following Saturday’s entertaining 2-2 draw at The J.Davidson Stadium.
In a game which constantly hung in the balance, it was Alty that started the better of the two sides on Saturday as Chris Conn-Clarke’s outstanding solo goal put us 1-0 up inside nine minutes.
The visitors soon replied however, equalising minutes later and giving The Heed a switch in momentum as they made it 2-1 just before the break.
Half-time came as a blessing for Phil Parkinson’s men as they came out in the second with much more confidence and conviction than the first. Marcus Dinanga continued his run of excellent form, scoring his fourth goal in as many games to earn us a much-deserved replay at Gateshead International Stadium tonight.
It was only two weeks ago to the day that we last travelled to Tyneside, beating the hosts 3-1 to kick-start our unbeaten run. However, unlike Saturday, tonight only one team can come out victorious and face Stevenage in the First Round Proper of the Emirates FA Cup.
The potential home tie will be played between Friday 4th November 2022 and Monday 7th November 2022.
