Alty to Southport is Ged's final challenge
Former Robins player, Ged Kielty, set off from Altrincham this morning on the final leg of his 215-mile Coast 2 Coast run from Hornsea to Southport.

The 49-year-old is raising money for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation in memory of his former Alty teammates, Mark Maddox and George Melling, who we lost to this dreadful incurable disease.
Ged’s Latest Daily Updates
Day Three - Friday
I was picked up at 6am for the third day running by Ben Lockett who is the owner of Twisted Running in Altrincham, and Paul Gibbon who is a fellow runner at Twisted. We then set off to Tilts, near Doncaster, where I finished running on Day 2.

My aim for today was to go past the highest point of The Pennines, which I did just under 40 miles later! Lots of elevation today, a tough day of running. I have two days of running left to make it to the Seamark in Southport, to complete my Coast 2 Coast Challenge.

I’m most grateful to the Alty fans who have donated and supported my challenge. It means so much.
Day Four - Saturday
At around 7:30am, I started running from just below Dunford Bridge, which is near The Dog & Partridge pub on the Woodhead Pass, in South Yorkshire, finishing in Altrincham around 5pm, some 40 plus miles later. Everything went to plan, leaving us with a planned 48 miles tomorrow to get to Southport on Sunday evening.
Today’s final day is the longest and likely to be the most arduous leg of this incredible running challenge. Ged set off from Twisted Running on Viaduct Road, Altrincham at 9am,
supported by a group of about 20 runners, who are running the first 10K with him.
Today’s route is along the Trans-Pennine trail and if everything goes to plan, Ged will complete his challenge between 7-9pm this evening at The Seamark in Southport.
