It is with profound sadness that Altrincham Football Club has learned of the passing of former director and financial officer, Mike Adams, who has died today on his 79th birthday.

For 46 years, Mike was a loyal supporter of Altrincham FC. For 25 of those years, he was a season ticket holder, most often found on match days sitting quietly at the back of the Main Stand, watching the club he loved.

Originally from the Black Country, Mike built a successful professional career after university, joining Chrysler and qualifying as an accountant. Following early retirement, he chose not to slow down, but instead to give something back to his local community. In 2006, he volunteered his services to Altrincham FC and took on responsibility for the club’s finances.

From that point on, Mike became one of the key figures behind the scenes at Moss Lane. His financial expertise, attention to detail and steady leadership helped the board understand exactly where the club stood financially and how it could plan responsibly for the future.

Mike stepped away from his duties in 2024, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, professionalism and genuine care for Altrincham FC.

He was not just a director or financial officer. He was one of us. A supporter first and foremost.

On behalf of everyone at Altrincham Football Club, we extend our deepest condolences to Mike’s family and friends at this difficult time.

In consultation with Mike's family, the club will observe a minute's applause ahead of kick-off on Saturday 7th March versus Truro City.

Rest in peace, Mike.
