Lewis Banks has pledged his future to Altrincham after accepting a new deal to continue adding solidity and attacking flair to the Robins' right flank next season.

The talented right-back was one of eight players listed as 'in talks' when we published our first close-season squad update on our website and social media channels yesterday.

He can now be moved to the 'under contract' category after becoming the first of the eight to reach agreement on new terms and put pen to paper in a breakthrough that has been enthusiastically welcomed by manager Phil Parkinson.

"I'm really pleased that Banko has decided to commit with us for a further season," said the Robins boss. "He has become a mainstay of the team, a firm fans' favourite and a real consistent performer who has shown growth and improvement since coming through the door.

"Everything we look for in an Alty player Banko displays, and I can't wait to see him wearing the red and white for another season."

The 28-year old Potteries-born defender, who captained his home club Stoke City at under-21 and under-23 level, joined Alty from Arbroath in the summer of 2023 and has been a model of consistency as a highly-dependable full-back with a penchant for getting forward and supporting the attack on either side of the Robins' defence.

As he prepares to enter a third season as a key figure in Alty's squad, Lewis said: "I'm delighted to have signed a new contract. I've really enjoyed my first two seasons at Alty - it's a fantastic, ambitious club with a great management team, staff, volunteers and supporters, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into pre-season."
