Altrincham ramped up pre-season preparations with a behind closed doors friendly against Tranmere Rovers, with the Robins picking up a 3-1 victory at the hosts training ground.

All four goals came inside the opening 20 minutes as Sam Barnes headed home in the early exchanges. The hosts quickly fought back before captain Tom Crawford rose highest from a corner to regain Alty’s lead.

The advantage was doubled when Aidan Barlow netted his second goal in as many pre-season games with a great finish inside the penalty area, sealing a solid win in a good workout.
