Alty heading to York for second time in three days - this time in the league

By Joe Ward

Alty are back on the road and back in Vanarama National League action on Tuesday when we return to the LNER Community Stadium for the second instalment of our double-header with York City (7:45pm kick-off).

The Robins took one step closer to Wembley on Saturday after seeing off Tuesday's opponents 2-1 in the Isuzu FA Trophy quarter-final following goals from Jordan Hulme and James Jones.

Alty were denied a clean sheet when Lenell John-Lewis headed past Ollie Byrne five minutes into stoppage time. However, there wasn't the slightest possibility it would ever dampen the spirits of the 663 travelling Robins, who erupted with noise at the final whistle as we earned ourselves a place in the last four of the competition.

Nonetheless, It's imperative Phil Parkinson now refocuses his players' attention ahead of Tuesday as we look for another positive result, this time in the National League.

About The Opposition

Altrincham are seven points above the Minstermen in the league, with Mikey Morton's side currently sitting 17th in the table.

However, York will be hoping to secure back-to-back league wins following a convincing 3-0 away victory over Bromley last Tuesday.

The club's top scorer, Lenell John-Lewis, was on the scoresheet in that game, along with his team-mates Ryan Fallowfield and Luke James.

Alty came from behind to beat York in our last league meeting. Second-half goals from Elliot Newby and Ryan Colclough secured the Robins all three points, despite City taking an early lead through Maxim Kouogun.

Our hosts have the fifth-worst home record in the National League, capturing only 20 of their 39 points at the LNER Community Stadium.

However, after Saturday's result, York will surely be hungry for revenge, setting up a compelling clash in North Yorkshire this Tuesday evening.
