Three more names from the 2014 squad on Day Nine of our big Stuey testimonial build-up

Words John Edwards

THE countdown is nearing its conclusion for Stuart Coburn's testimonial, and on this ninth day of our build-up to what is sure to be a special afternoon for all Altrincham fans as well as our legendary former keeper, we are bringing you details of three more ex-Robins who will be turning out.

It's going to be nostalgia all the way when the match kicks off at 3.30pm this coming Sunday, July 28th, and Stuart is hoping for a bumper turnout, not only to savour the spectacle of so many famous old Aty names out on the pitch again but to help raise funds for his chosen charity, the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

Jones Contracts are kindly sponsoring the event and the Golf Road turnstiles will be open from 2.30pm, so get yourself along to The J.Davidson Stadium and make sure you're part of the celebrations for an unrivalled Alty career that spanned a club record 689 appearances.

Tickets are only £5 for adults and £2 for under-18s and can be purchased here. We may well see Stuey around the place after Sunday, given his Alty allegiances, but not with his boots on, not between the posts, reminding everyone why he's generally acknowledged as one of our finest-ever goalkeepers.

It's the last chance for all of us to see him in action - whatever you do, don't miss out! Here are today's three names who have pledged to be part of the Alty 2014 squad lined up to do battle with their 2005 counterparts.

LUCA HAVERN - 6ft 3in centre-back Luca had two spells with Stockport County early in his career, and the first could hardly have started any better. On his debut against Brentford in League Two in May 2008, he introduced himself to Edgeley Park fans by drilling home the only goal of the game from just inside the area early in the second half.

He had come through the youth ranks at County and captained the under-18s, but that matchwinning performance was to be his only appearance for the first team before he was released.

He returned to County briefly, after a spell with Mansfield Town, and joined Alty from Hyde in July 2012, initially playing alongside Danny Hall, his centre-back partner in their time together at Hyde.

In the 2014-15 season, he stood out in partnership with Scott Leather for much of the campaign and then with Tom Marshall later on, and he also wore the captain's armband with distinction whenever Shaun Densmore was missing from the side.

He left to skipper AFC Telford United in the summer of 2016 after 181+1 outings for Alty that included six goals.

PADDY LACEY - on Manchester United's books as a junior, where he found himself playing alongside the likes of Ravel Morrison and Jesse Lingard.

At senior level, he had a year at Bradford City and a brief time at Droylsden before joining Alty in July 2012, having impressed for Morecamble in a pre-season friendly against the Robins.

In his one season at The J.Davidson Stadium, he looked a composed central midfielder with good distribution, as he clocked up 12+21 appearances, only to be released in the summer of 2013, after which he joined Barrow.

RYAN BROOKE - made a dream start to his career after working his way through the youth ranks at Oldham Athletic and forcing his way into the first team for the final game of the 2008-09 season, grabbing the opportunity with both hands by scoring with his first touch of the ball just three minutes after going on as substitute in a 2-1 win over Walsall!

He went on to make 29 appearances for the Latics in all, scoring twice, before being released and joining Alty in May 2012.

He scored six goals in nine starts and 30 appearances as substitute and left Alty in the summer of 2013, after which he spent three years with Curzon Ashton.
