Alty welcome Stoke City's Premier League 2 side to The J.Davidson Stadium this evening for Match Night 3 of the inaugural National League Cup.

Our first two fixtures in the competition have been full of drama, but in case you need any more encouragement, here are five reasons why you should attend our group stage clash with the Potters tonight.

Attacking football on display

Phil Parkinson prides his Altrincham teams on playing in a progressive manner,
looking to win every match they participate in, no matter the opponent. His free-
flowing, attacking football has led Alty to two promotions, a National League play-off semi-final and countless high-scoring thrillers.

His approach does not, and will not, change in the National League Cup. In Group B, only games involving Blackburn Rovers u21s have produced more goals than games featuring Altrincham. Ten goals have been scored in our first two fixtures in the competition, so prepare yourself for more goals this evening.

Watch the next generation of talent

A prevalent factor in the creation of this tournament was to advance the development of the youth at clubs in the Premier League and Championship by testing them against clubs from the most competitive division in the country – the National League.

Alongside watching an exciting Altrincham team, tonight’s clash gives fans
the opportunity to watch the next generation of Premier League 2 talent in the early stage of their careers.

In recent history, Stoke’s youth system has produced a number of high-quality players who have gone on to play in the Premier League, Championship and Scottish Premier League.

Amongst the most prominent examples are Nathan Collins (Brentford), Ben Brereton Diaz (Southampton), Tyrese Campbell & Harry Souttar (both Sheffield United) and Daniel Bachmann (Watford) - not forgetting Lewis Banks, Eddy Jones and Kahrel Reddin in our own squad.

There is no telling just how far our opponents will advance in the footballing world, so head down to The J.Davidson Stadium on this evening to catch the next big star in action - did we mention it's free?

A great, family-friendly atmosphere

Alty have been setting attendance records in the new competition, with nearly 800 fans in attendance for Blackburn Rovers' visit in October before 3,663 flocked to Moss Lane for the visit of Manchester United two weeks ago.

Come witness for yourself the fantastic atmosphere of a midweek match under the lights at The J.Davidson Stadium. Turnstiles open at 6:30pm with kick-off at 7:30pm.

A must-win match

With Altrincham picking up just two points from their opening two matches in the
competition, tonight has effectively become a must-win fixture if we wish to
progress to the quarter-finals in early 2025.

We sit just two points behind Oldham Athletic in second (only the top two teams from each group advance), but an Alty loss and a Latics win would make it impossible for us to qualify.

Your support can play a massive role in helping the players grab three points and put the pressure on Oldham in their next match, against Blackburn Rovers on December 10th.
