Thanks and farewell, Elliot - blow for Alty as County recall wing ace Newby

Elliot Newby’s second spell at Altrincham came to a close earlier today when Stockport County ended his loan stay and recalled him to Edgeley Park.
The free-scoring winger has been a huge success during a loan that was due to run until the New Year, contributing goals and assists and helping the Robins go on an unbeaten run that now extends to six games.
But he has been recalled by County, prior to making a permanent move to another club when the January transfer window opens, and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone at The J.Davidson Stadium.
Signed on loan for a second time six weeks ago, Elliot made his Alty debut at home to Barnet and immediately settled into his stride, despite a 2-0 defeat.
Four days later, he was well and truly up and running, equalising in a 2-1 win over York City in front of the BT Sport cameras and launching a scoring sequence that brought him four goals in as many games.
Even when that run ended, he laid on the opening goal for Josh Lundstram in a 3-2 win at Maidstone United a week last Saturday, as Alty maintained their impressive pre-Christmas form.
Elliot, who turned 27 a month ago, signed off in Alty colours at The J.Davidson Stadium on Tuesday night as the Robins turned on the style with some free-flowing attacking play in a 1-0 Isuzu FA Trophy third-round win over Curzon Ashton.
We’re sorry to see you go, Elliot, but thanks for all you’ve done and all the best in your new venture.
