Tough test on the Cards this Saturday as Woking head our way!

By Joe Ward

Alty are back in Vanarama National League action when we host Woking at The J.Davidson Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Robins will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend following a 2-1 defeat to play-off chasing Bromley on Tuesday night.

Despite a second-half fightback, Phil Parkinson’s men fell just short of rescuing a point at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Tyrese Sinclair gave the Robins hope, scoring for a second time in back-to-back games, but they finished empty-handed after a couple of quickfire goals from set-pieces in the first half proved to be their undoing.

Nevertheless, there were plenty of positives for the gaffer to take into our next game, most of all the impact that Ben Pringle, Regan Linney and Egli Kaja had when coming off the bench.

Our visitors head into the game off the back of an impressive 2-2 draw against promotion-chasing Wrexham, ending the Red Dragons' eight-match National League winning run.

About The Opposition

Woking currently sit in third place, capturing 58 points from 31 games. They have played twice more than any other side in the play-off positions and head into the match unbeaten in their last three league games.

The Cards boast the third-best away record in the table, picking up 30 of their points on the road, just two fewer than Wrexham, who have played the same number of games.

Woking have lost only two of their last 18 league fixtures but can count themselves lucky it's not three after Padraig Amond struck a stoppage-time equaliser to salvage a point against Alty in a 1-1 draw at the Laithwaite Community Stadium back in November.

Our opponents have one of the best scoring records in the league with a tally of 55 goals, only bettered by Wrexham, Notts County and Barnet.

Rhys Browne tops the Cardinals' scoring charts this season with 10 goals in just 17 appearances. An impressive feat for the 27-year-old, who only joined the club last October following his departure from Wealdstone. The attacker heads into Saturday’s fixture with three goals in his last two games.
