ALTY are on the road again, travelling to the Cal.Delivery Stadium (formerly Cantilever Park) to face Warrington Town in a friendly on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

With the start of the Vanarama National League only three weeks away, the Robins face a stern test after a strong start to their 2024/25 pre-season.

Setting The Scene

The Robins maintained their unbeaten start to pre-season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 victory over Cheadle Heath Nomads.

Once again, Phil Parkinson opted to field a completely different line-up for each half of the friendly, allowing the entirety of the squad to build their match fitness.

Regan Linney scored his first two goals of the 2024/25 campaign and an impressive solo strike from Matty Kosylo sealed a 3-0 win for Alty.

Our hosts, Warrington Town, recorded a 12th place finish in the Vanarama National League North last year, in their first season after promotion from the Northern Premier League.

They too have made an impressive start to their pre-season campaign, beating
Nantwich Town away from home before a convincing 3-0 home victory over Rochdale AFC.

The Gaffer

"I'm hoping to see an improvement in quality and intensity, because we're going to have to. I watched Warrington at Nantwich, as it was on my doorstep. They looked right at it and a bit ahead of us in terms of their fitness.

"We've got a set programme as to how we work, building up to gradually get there. We want to be careful how we get our players up to speed. You hear all managers say it about pre-season games, it won't be what we do now, it'll be what we do against Woking in three weeks time that really counts."
