Preview as Alty search for an elusive home win over Bromley

Altrincham hope to maintain their impressive start in the Vanarama National League as they prepare to host Bromley at The J. Davidson Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Having notched six consecutive games without a loss, and in fine goal-scoring form, the Robins now have the opportunity to extend their best unbeaten start to a National League season since 1985/86.

Altrincham played out a 3-3 draw at AFC Fylde's Mill Farm stadium this past Bank Holiday Monday.

In a game that Phil Parkinson reflected on as one they "probably should have lost," his side fell victim to a spirited second-half fightback from the Coasters. The home side turned around a two-goal deficit to draw level, equalising again in the 9th minute of added time after Chris Conn-Clarke's 87th minute penalty had restored the Altrincham lead.

Altrincham's two first-half goals were scored by in-form forwards Regan Linney and Dior Angus, with the latter adding to his quickfire double against Chesterfield just two days before.

The Robins have had no trouble finding the net so far this season, with their goals-for tally surpassed only by Chesterfield, Hartlepool United and Barnet. With the recent addition of Ollie Crankshaw from Stockport County, they will surely be confident in maintaining their hot streak in front of goal.

There is no guarantee of this, of course.

Over their years in the National League, Bromley have consistently presented a sturdy defence and a playing style that has generally gotten the better of Phil Parkinson's Altrincham.

In fact, since their return to the National League, Alty are yet to secure a victory against Bromley and have never beaten tomorrow's visitors at The J. Davidson Stadium. They've won in Altrincham on their three previous visits.

Andy Woodman's side are to be highly respected, regarded for being difficult to play against and giving nothing away cheaply to their opponents.

Since losing their first two games they have gone four unbeaten themselves, picking up their first victory of the season at home to Southend United this past Monday.

This sets the stage for an intriguing clash between two teams that employ contrasting styles of football.

We know the Robins will play on the front foot, while Bromley may well opt for a deep defensive approach, aiming to exploit set-pieces and crossing opportunities—an area in which the Robins must now be well alert, especially considering the presence of the ever-dangerous Michael Cheek among the visitors' attacking talents.
