Goalkeeper Owen Evans is the sixth new face to join Alty this summer as he moves north on a permanent deal from League Two Barnet.

The 29-year-old Welsh stopper brings a wealth of EFL experience to The J.Davidson Stadium, having played nearly 150 games of League football in his career to date.

Neil Gibson on our latest summer signing: "Owen's a goalkeeper I've kept a close eye on over the last 10 years of his career. He's become an excellent senior goalkeeper after being a high regarded youngster at Wigan Athletic and playing for Wales under-21s.

"He sets really high standards, has got a wealth of experience at National League level and was heavily involved in Barnet winning promotion to the EFL in 2024/25."

Owen’s Background

Capped at under-18 and under-21 level by Wales, Owen came through the ranks at Wigan Athletic, cutting his teeth in senior football with loan spells at Witton Albion, Rhyl, North Ferriby, Sutton United, Macclesfield Town and Cheltenham Town.

A permanent move to Gloucestershire’s Robins and League One came in 2021, before two seasons at Walsall, a third spell with Cheltenham and a National League title win with The Bees in 2024/25.
