Lucas Weaver scored yet another brace for Bamber Bridge at the weekend as he helped his side secure a dominant 4-0 victory over FC United of Manchester.

Brig made a remarkable start to the fixture, and after just four minutes they
found themselves ahead. Then, only two minutes later, Weaver latched on to a loose ball in the opposition half and struck an early shot beyond an unprepared
goalkeeper.

The in-form forward doubled his tally in the 23rd minute as he raced onto an
ambitious long ball upfield. After controlling the ball, he cut inside past the defender tasked with marking him and finished excellently into the bottom left corner.

Bamber Bridge were 4-0 up before the half-time interval; their thoroughly deserved three points saw them rise into 12th place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division with 18 points from 14 games.

Elsewhere at the weekend, Joel Bailey and Owen German were a part of the Witton Albion side who confidently dispatched Congleton Town 5-2 in the Northern Premier League West Division.

With both Bailey and German in the lineup from the start of the game, Witton rushed into a 3-0 lead before half time. The Bears mounted a comeback in the early part of the second half and brought the scoreline back to 3-2, but Albion quickly put the game out of sight, scoring twice in the 15 minutes after Congleton’s second goal.

After their win at the weekend, Witton Albion leapfrogged their opponents, moving
out of the relegation zone into 18th position.

Many thanks to Spencer Hayes Group & Darren Harrison (Lucas Weaver) and Ian Watmore (Owen German) for sponsoring our youngsters this season.
