Helping hand for local students as Alty open doors to UA92

ALTRINCHAM are taking their policy of promoting young talent to a new level after offering first-hand work experience to a group of local sports students.

The Robins have always prided themselves on giving youth every chance to flourish, with an Academy set-up that has already provided players for the first-team squad being a shining example.

Now the club have opened their doors to students from UA92 to give them a valuable insight into the many facets of how a professional set-up like ours functions successfully behind the scenes.

UA92, the University Academy based on Brian Statham Way opposite Old Trafford cricket ground in Stretford, have sent 17 students to The J.Davidson Stadium to learn the ropes alongside club staff and volunteers for a total of five days.

Three of those days will be non-match days, while the other two will give them an understanding of the entire procedure, from start to finish, of staging a Vanarama National League fixture.

They were at the ground all day against Woking on Saturday and will again be in attendance, contributing to all that goes into enhancing the matchday experience for Robins fans, when Alty take on York City on Tuesday evening.

The students, who are studying all aspects of sports management at UA92, will be broadening their knowledge of their chosen subject by seeing how the areas of retail, media, day-to-day operations, commercial activity, sales, sponsorship, marketing and events management are conducted at Alty.

It's not the first time the Robins have welcomed UA92 students to The J.Davidson Stadium to help develop their skills and improve their career prospects, and we are delighted to be working hand-in-hand with the nearby university once more.

UA92 Sports Management and Sports Events Management Course Leader Spencer Fearn expressed his gratitude by saying: "Since our partnership started in 2023, Altrincham FC have provided some incredible work experiences for the UA92 students that has given them a real insight into how football clubs operate.

"The next stage of our joint project is the UA92 takeover, where students from UA92 will spend five days at Altrincham undertaking a variety of different roles as the club prepare for the Woking and York City home games.

"This will be a fantastic experience for the students and will help them build further knowledge and experience as they look to forge careers in sport post-graduation. It is refreshing to see the approach of Altrincham FC, and they all have our thanks for the time and effort they put in to create these wonderful opportunities."
