Hartlepool under the lights next up for Alty - here's your match preview

By Joe Brayne

Altrincham are on the hunt for their second victory at The J. Davidson Stadium in the Vanarama National League as we prepare to host promotion hopefuls Hartlepool United this Tuesday (7.45pm kick-off).

The Robins delivered a gutsy performance at Grosvenor Vale on Saturday, securing a well-earned point against a Wealdstone side who have often proved a bogey team for Alty.

As an indication of the progress being made by the club at Academy level, young prospect Tom Jones was named on the bench and was an unused substitute in a match where clear-cut attacking opportunities were sparse for both sides.

Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson hailed the performance as “inspiring”, marking a notable turnaround after enduring a two-game slide and grappling with several injuries.

With back-to-back home games on the horizon and the transfer window nearing its close, the boss has hinted at the possibility of bolstering his squad with match-fit players.

About the Opposition

Hartlepool made an explosive return to the National League but have since faced turbulence, with just one victory in their last three matches.

The Pools were hit for five by league newcomers Oxford City before suffering a 2-0 defeat against Woking at the Suit Direct Stadium last Saturday.

Currently occupying sixth place and trailing league leaders Chesterfield by seven points, our visitors are determined to bounce back at The J. Davidson Stadium.

Experienced forward Emmanuel Dieseruvwe poses the Pools' greatest attacking threat, having used his physical prowess to net six goals in eight matches since his arrival over the summer.

An expansive, attacking Altrincham will meet one of the league’s leakiest defences (19 goals conceded), suggesting we are likely in for a free-flowing, high-scoring encounter.
