ALTRINCHAM'S head groundsman Adam Lawrence is bidding farewell to The J.Davidson Stadium after being appointed to a similar role at a League One club.

Adam has been a huge asset since arriving at Alty at the beginning of September last year, working tirelessly and with considerable expertise to prepare pitches conducive to the Robins' preferred style of play and doing his utmost to combat the detrimental effect of torrential rain in recent weeks.

Everyone at the club is sorry to see him go, but he leaves with our gratitude and best wishes after securing a wonderful opportunity for himself at EFL level.

Reflecting on his 15-month spell with Alty, Adam said: "I just want to thank every single person at the club for giving me this opportunity to work at this great club.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed working for Alty and hope they continue on their upward trajectory! A special mention to all the volunteers who work at Altrincham FC for dedicating your time and efforts to ensure the club functions so successfully."

Adam joined the Robins after spending the previous three years tending pitches at Stoke City and the FA's St George's Park headquarters, and he quickly made a favourable impression working alongside a committed team of volunteers to provide Alty's squad with the best possible playing surface.

In wishing Adam all the best in his new venture, the club can confirm that we are advertising for a replacement with immediate effect.
