Alty women's team subject of students' documentary

At Altrincham, we are always striving to encourage and nurture young talent, so it is particularly gratifying to announce that a group of media students from the Trafford area have chosen the women's team at The J.Davidson Stadium as the subject matter for a special documentary.

George Allen, Woody Ford, Henry Locke, Jack McColley and Greg Brown are all studying at UA92, who have forged close links with the Robins in recent years and sent students to us to learn the ropes and gain first-hand experience under the expert guidance of Alty's media team.

As part of their course work, they were tasked with selecting a sporting topic and capturing its essence on film, in an exercise designed to test a whole range of skills, from researching and presenting to interviewing and operating a camera.

George is in his second season with Alty's media department, and his suggestion for a team effort to shine a light on a specific element of the set-up at The J.Davidson Stadium iled to the five of them writing, presenting and filming a highly-polished production entitled "Life in Non-League - Altrincham FC Women".

It's a short documentary lasting just under 10 minutes, but it provides a fascinating insight into the phenomenal growth in popularity and awareness of women's football at all levels in recent times.

Alty have been very much part of that rapid rise to prominence, and the students took their cameras and microphones to Moss Lane to find out more from some of those involved in making our women's section the success it is becoming.

There was input from manager Alex Hilton-Slee and a squad perspective from two of the players, who were all interviewed in the Atlantic Timber main stand.

It is a thoroughly interesting, well researched and professionally put together piece of work, and we intend to give it the build-up it deserves.

With that in mind, each week for the next four weeks, we will be posting an interview with a member of the women's team on our website and social media channels, prior to the documentary being released as a YouTube Premier in the week beginning December 9th.

You will hopefully then see for yourself why the club are so proud of the UA92 students we have taken under our wing and add your congratulations to the creative efforts of director George Allen, executive producer Woody Ford, producers Henry Locke and Jack McColley and camera operator Greg Brown. Well done, one and all!

Our mutually beneficial relationship with UA92 continues to go from strength to strength, and we are delighted to have had nine more of their students with us at The J.Davidson Stadium this week, learning and participating across all aspects of the club.

They will be in attendance again on Saturday, for the visit of Southend United (tickets available here), helping to ensure matchday runs smoothly, before returning to their studies, hopefully all the better for the experience they will have gained.
