A fiver doesn't go far these days - unless you happen to be an Alty fan looking to take in a game at The J.Davidson Stadium in the New Year.

If that's the case, your £5 is going to go to the extraordinary lengths of covering the entire cost of admission for the Robins' Vanarama National League clash with Maidenhead United under the Moss Lane lights on Tuesday January 14th.

That's right, it's the return of Footy for a Fiver, our inflation-busting initiative that gives you the chance to witness the thrills and spills, not to mention eye-catching skills, of Phil Parkinson's side pushing for promotion for an amount more in keeping with 1990 prices.

We've done it before, most recently against Kidderminster Harriers last season, and we are delighted to be doing it again, as further evidence of our commitment to strengthening ties with the local community.

The club set great store by reaching out to everyone in the locality, and we see this occasional gesture as an ideal way of making entry to The J.Davidson Stadium affordable to as many as possible in the hope that more and more will come along to sample for themselves what the Alty matchday experience is all about.

The visit of Alan Devonshire's Maidenhead has been chosen for this season's cut-price offer, with home and away fans aged 12 and over paying £5 and all those under 12 having to pay just £1. As ever, supporters are encouraged to buy tickets in advance by clicking here, but there will be the option to pay by cash at the turnstiles on the night, if need be.

Either way, it's an opportunity not to be missed, as Alty strive to add even more momentum to their bid to go one better than last season's promotion near-miss by once more securing a place in the play-offs.

It promises to be a night to remember, with a packed crowd creating a cracking atmosphere under the lights, as we saw when match sponsorship enabled us to offer free admission for our National League Cup group game with Manchester United under-21s and 3,663 fans turned up to marvel at the silky skills of Old Trafford's crop of top prospects.

With the Robins eager to build on their progress so far, tantalisingly close to the top seven heading into the New Year, it has the makings of another compelling spectacle. So don't delay - click on the link now and make sure you are there, part of the Alty community cheering on your local team.

*A partial refund will be arranged in the next couple of days for fans who've already bought their general admission tickets for the game
