Eddy Jones Signs New Deal

The club is delighted to confirm that Eddy Jones has agreed a new deal to remain at The J.Davidson Stadium.

Since first arriving at the club from Stoke City, Jones has developed into one of the National League's standout left backs and has played a key role in the club's recent success.

The Welshman was instrumental during the 2023/24 campaign as Altrincham secured a fourth place finish in the National League and reached the play offs, establishing himself as one of the division's most consistent performers.

Jones continued that form into the first half of the following season before suffering an ACL injury that brought his campaign to a sudden halt.

Following months of rehabilitation, he returned to action at the beginning of December 2025 and was virtually ever present through to the end of last season, producing a series of impressive performances that earned widespread praise from manager Neil Gibson and underlined his importance to the squad.

Now, after an excellent return to fitness, Jones has committed his future to the football club by agreeing a new deal.

Eddy Jones said:

"I'm delighted to be staying at Altrincham. This is a club that has always shown belief in me and somewhere I've enjoyed every minute of my football.

"Getting back playing regularly again was a massive personal achievement after the injury, and I'm excited to build on that heading into next season. There's a great group here and I can't wait to get going again."

Manager Neil Gibson added:

"Eddy's quality is obvious for everyone to see. He gives us balance, energy and real quality down the left hand side, and he was excellent for us after returning to the team.

"The way he applied himself during his recovery and then performed week after week when he came back says everything about his character. We're delighted he'll continue to be part of what we're building here."

Director of Football John Coyne commented:

"Eddy has been an outstanding player for this football club over a number of seasons now. His performances during our play off campaign showed exactly what he is capable of, and his response to a significant injury only reinforced the qualities we already knew he possessed.

"To return in December and perform at the level he did for the remainder of the season was hugely impressive. We're delighted he's agreed to stay and believe he has some of his best football still ahead of him."

Everyone at Altrincham Football Club looks forward to seeing Eddy continue his journey in red and white.
