Altrincham have significantly boosted their attacking options after landing Coventry City prospect Danny Cashman on loan for the rest of the season, pending Football League, National League and FA approval.

An all-action, energetic attacking midfielder, the livewire 22-year old can operate in any of the three positions behind the main striker but has been earmarked for the number 10 role by Alty manager Phil Parkinson.

Though he only turned 22 earlier this month, former Brighton under-18s skipper Danny, who will train with his new Alty team-mates this week and be available for Saturday's big 5.20pm kick-off at home to Wrexham, has already gained valuable experience at League Two level after two extended loan spells at Rochdale and Walsall over the last couple of seasons.

The club are delighted to have him for the second half of our Vanarama National League campaign and confident Alty fans will be excited by a style of play that is showcased by a series of film clips on YouTube.

The videos underline his eye for goal and ability to receive the ball in tight situations and either pick a pass or wrongfoot a close marker with a quick change of direction.

Though he is predominantly right-footed, one of the videos shows him weaving past a couple of challenges before rifling a left-foot shot into the roof of the net for a stunning solo goal for Coventry under-21s against Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny joined Brighton in 2012 at the age of 11 and rose through the ranks to become captain of their under-18 team, as well as scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists for their under-23s.

Coventry snapped him up in August 2021 and loaned him out to Rochdale at the start of last season, where he clocked up 38 appearances and weighed in with four goals, frequently taking the eye with his jinking runs and acceleration.

He was loaned out to Walsall last September and had made 10 appearances for them, registering two assists, when he was recalled by Coventry a fortnight ago, Sky Blues boss Mark Robins saying: "Danny has loads of potential, but he needs to play more football, that is for sure."

Alty are happy to provide him with that opportunity, and everyone at the club would like to extend a warm welcome to Danny and wish him all the best in his time at The J.Davidson Stadium.
