Daggers up next for Alty's penultimate home game of the season

By Joe Ward

The Robins return to Vanarama National League action at The J.Davidson Stadium on Tuesday night when we host Dagenham & Redbridge (7:45pm kick-off).

Alty will look to bounce back following a frustrating 3-2 defeat away to Dorking Wanderers last Saturday.

Despite taking an early two-goal lead through Regan Linney and Maxi Oyedele, Phil Parkinson's side were made to pay for missed chances as Jason Prior's 70th-minute decider completed a fine comeback for the hosts.

Nevertheless, the Robins must now refocus their attention on finishing the season strongly, beginning with a tough test against the Daggers in our penultimate home game of the 22/23 campaign.

Manager's Views

Altrincham manager Phil Parkinson spoke with Laurence Howarth following Alty's defeat at Dorking.

About The Opposition

Dagenham & Redbridge head into the game in poor form, having won just one of their last five league games. The visitors fell to defeat in their last match, losing 2-0 away from home against Southend United.

Ben Strevens' side currently sit in 10th place after 43 games, winning 17, drawing seven and losing 19 so far.

The Greater London-based side are eight points below the play-offs and will travel to The J.Davidson Stadium eager to remain hot on the heels of the teams above them in the table.

On paper, our opponents' main threat comes in the form of their top scorer, Josh Walker, who has netted 12 times so far this season for the Daggers.

The centre-forward was on the scoresheet in our last meeting with Dagenham & Redbridge, which ended in a 4-1 defeat for Alty at The Chigwell Construction Stadium earlier this season.

In preparation for Tuesday night's game, the visitors' manager, Ben Strevens, told DaggersTV: "We'll be looking for a reaction from the players against Altrincham, following our loss on Saturday.

"The lads saw a different side of me after our last game, so there's been more of a focus in training today (Monday) and we'll try and put that into action tomorrow.

"Altrincham are going to want to have lots of possession and implement their style of play on the game and we've got to respect the threats that they have, but we'll try and play our stuff as well.

"I don't want to have any regrets in the last three games of the season and I really want to see the lads play for the club."
