Brief and to the point! Alty players strip down to their boxers to deliver vital health message

Altrincham have joined forces with UK underwear brand Oddballs to raise awareness of testicular cancer and underline the need for vigilance among men everywhere.

Since launching in 2014, Oddballs have cornered the market in dazzling designs and, at the same time, stressed the importance of self-examination for beating one of the most common male cancers but also one of the most treatable when caught early.

Oddballs initially made their mark in rugby circles, forming partnerships in both codes, including the British and Irish Lions, but have since branched out into other sports, most notably football.

They reached out to Alty by offering to supply the first-team squad with an eye-catching array of underwear from their latest range.

The club responded by welcoming their approach and promising to make them the Robins’ charity partner at a Vanarama National League fixture at The J.Davidson Stadium.

The players were just as receptive to the initiative, parading in their boxers and briefs and urging men to check themselves in a video filmed by Alty TV’s Mark Bennett (below).

Reflecting on how he and his team-mates readily embraced the link-up with Oddballs, Alty forward Matty Kosylo said: ‘The boxers are great, really comfortable. Mine are in my underwear drawer, and I’ll be wearing them again.

‘More importantly, it’s a great cause that we’re more than happy to support. If we can help get the message across that men should check themselves regularly and act if they find anything untoward, we’re all in favour.’

Acting promptly is imperative, and that same message will be delivered again when Oddballs take their place at The J.Davidson Stadium as our chosen charity partner for the visit of Solihull Moors on Saturday, February 25th, kick-off 3pm.

To date, Oddballs have donated in excess of £650,000 to various charities, and their aim is to hit the million pound mark by 2023. Let’s do our bit to help them achieve their goal when they come calling in February.
