Alty suffer narrow defeat at Boston United
Boston 1 Altrincham 0
Altrincham return from Lincolnshire empty-handed after a second half strike by Ken Aboh secured the points for Boston United at The Jakemans Community Stadium.
The first half saw plenty of positive play from both sides, with referee Garreth Rhodes determined to let the play flow despite some strong challenges in the opening exchanges.
Jimmy Knowles was the first to worry the Boston goal on seven minutes, but after good work from Liam Humbles the former Pilgrim forward fired just over with a volley from 12 yards.
It wasn't until late in the half that further chances came and went. Knowles went close again after the combination of Sam Taylor and Charlie Kirk presented the opportunity, before Kirk was denied at the back post by a stunning tackle from Sai Sachdev.
Boston's only effort in anger came from a long-range Gavan Holohan effort, that Owen Evans saw all the way.

The visitors almost made the perfect start to the second half when Kirk saw a shot blocked and the rebound effort from Humbles struck the post.
At the opposite end Taylor made a saving block inside the six yard box to deny a certain goal from Sachdev, before the home side took the lead against the run of play on 58 minutes.
A long ball found Ken Aboh in space and the forward finished well beyond Evans from inside the penalty area.
The goal scorer almost had a second four minutes later, but his effort after being released clean through on goal flashed wide of Evans' far post.
Attacking moves were made by Neil Gibson as Alty tried to get back into the game - Kahrel Reddin and Lucas Weaver entered from the bench to freshen up the forward line - but Boston stood firm to claim their first home win of the new season.
