Business Club members are in for a treat next month, following confirmation that pioneering award winner Ella Williams will be the guest speaker at our October breakfast get-together.

Following another highly-successful Business Club meeting this morning, featuring an informative address by Altrincham FC community manager Simon Dow, organisers have wasted no time turning their attention to next month and are delighted to be able to announce Ella as our next guest speaker.

Ella is a remarkable young woman who has already achieved a huge amount through her drive and commitment, and she will be providing Business Club members with what is sure to be a fascinating insight into a series of initiatives that have brought her widespread recognition on Friday October 25th.

A firm believer in turning ideas into action, Ella is the founder of Our Goal CIC, a Manchester-based not-for-profit organisation which uses mentoring and physical activity to improve the mental wellbeing and physical health of teenage girls.

Such has been the success of this initiative that she was named this year as Trafford's Woman in Business at the International Women's Day awards.

As Business Club members will hear, she has also gained experience as a coach and mentor in grassroots and professional football, while her time working as a researcher scaled new heights with her input into the internationally-renowned film Copa 71.

Ella was the chief researcher for the story of how teams from England, Argentina, Mexico, France, Denmark and Italy gathered at Mexico City's Azteca Stadium in 1971 for an unofficial women's World Cup that attracted massive crowds and media attention but was shunned by FIFA and domestic football associations around the globe.

Unofficial it may have been, but this riveting documentary ensured it wasn't forgotten, as it had a world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival in September that year and a UK Premiere at the BFI London Film Festival a month later.

It won countless awards, and Ella is rightly proud of her contribution to its worldwide success, as she is of the mentoring and encouragement she provides for local teenagers in her role with Our Goal CIC.

Altrincham FC Chief Executive Sam Mackenzie said: "Women make a huge contribution to the football industry across every level, from grassroots upwards. I can't wait to hear Ella, who is a fantastic role model." 

All these topics and more will be on the agenda next month when Ella recounts her work and experiences for the benefit of Business Club members and guests in The John King Lounge at The J.Davidson Stadium on Friday October 25th, starting at 8.30am.
