Alty Reserves 7-0 GPSO match report

First teamer Aidy Roxburgh opened the scoring after returning from injury as he produced a fine finish from inside the box after five minutes to set Alty on the way.
Altrincham then started to dominate the game playing some fine football and then in the 20th minute, Owen German with a brilliantly excited Volley made it two.
Minutes later, there was some good work on the right-hand side from Ewan McGready and his cross found Tom Jones to head it home for a third.
Ten minutes later it was four with a nice through ball played by Lewis Billingsley to Tom Jones whose shot rebounded off the post into the path of Sharif Islam to tap it home from close range.
Five minutes later Tom Jones got his second goal of the day to make it five after pouncing on the loose ball inside the 18-yard box.
Just two minutes later, there was time for one more goal before the half-time interval with good work from Sharif Islam who travelled with the ball from the halfway line to then set up Lewis Billingsley to make it six.
In the second half, the game began to fizzle out with Altrincham still controlling the game, moving the ball well, while creating chances. The seventh didn’t come until the 87th minute with Zaid Smith using his pace to get to the by-line where he then fired in a low cross for Sharif where he couldn’t miss from inside the six-yard box for his second goal of the day.
Quote from Assistant manager Danny Jarrett
“Excellent performance that complemented the score-line. We have been threatening to dominate a game like that for a number of weeks, our consistency was there for 90 minutes. I’m very impressed with the mix of reserves, academy and youth players standing out in a difficult league at their age. We have some big league and cup games coming up and I hope we can find that consistency from week to week now and make big strides across 3 competitions”
