Alty for all! Gateshead game picked to celebrate inclusivity

As a football club, we at Altrincham have always been proactive in our support of equality, diversity and inclusion, and we will be demonstrating it again this coming weekend.

A Celebration of Inclusivity is the title we are bestowing on Saturday's Vanarama National League fixture with Gateshead at The J.Davidson Stadium, and we are aiming to make it an occasion that underlines our steadfast belief that matchdays at Moss Lane are an experience to be enjoyed by all.

We take great pride in being at the heart of the community and providing a warm welcome for everyone who visits us, not only to cheer on the Robins but participate in any of the wide range of initiatives, activities and social events that are organised and laid on during the course of each and every week.

In association with Altrincham FC Community Sports, and with Paralympics medal-winning cyclists and Robins fans Neil and Lora Fachie in attendance, we will be celebrating all we do for inclusivity on an afternoon that will include fundraising for our women's team.

Community manager Simon Dow commented: “We are delighted that we will be able to welcome participants from across our disability sports programme to Saturday’s game.

"The range of programmes we offer is a key element to our community delivery and ensures that we can support every person in Altrincham and South Trafford to engage in physical activity and social interaction sessions.

"We firmly believe that anyone should be able to participate in our programmes and not feel excluded if they have a disability or additional need.”

The club's Alex Heywood added: "As the Alty Ability Officer, it is brilliant that participants from Sports Social, Junior Disability football and players from the Pan Ability team will be at the game.

"All of these groups are a vital part of the programme here at Altrincham FC Community Sports. Sports Social is a brilliant group to be involved with, as each session allows young adults with additional needs to take part in different activities and socialise with each other.

"Junior Disability football is run by a great group of coaches, and all sessions are fun and energetic. The Pan Ability team is a team I am actively involved in both as a coach and a player - this is a great opportunity to both develop the team further and enhance the community ethos of the club."

CEO Sam Mackenzie is looking forward to welcoming everyone to Saturday's game: "It's a real celebration of what can be achieved. Our Community Sports Trust, through coaching and support deliver outstanding initiatives.

"Thank you to everyone involved. If you can, please come and join us on Saturday, where we will welcome you with a huge smile and open arms."
