Alty return to Vanarama National League action on Tuesday night when we host Scunthorpe United at The J.Davidson Stadium in our first home fixture for the month of September (7:45pm kick-off).

The Robins will be looking to bounce back following a frustrating afternoon in the Midlands last time out which ended in defeat against promotion-chasing Solihull Moors.

Despite an unflattering score line Alty put in a strong attacking performance, creating plenty of problems for Solihull which culminated in a terrific long-range effort from our loanee Aaron Bennett, giving him his second goal of the season.

The defeat will serve as motivation for Phil Parkinson’s men as we now look to bottom of the table Scunthorpe United on Tuesday as an opportunity for a much-needed result.

Scunthorpe come into the game off the back of a 2-0 loss at home to Boreham Wood, in what has been an unsatisfactory start to the season for The Iron.

In a post-match interview with AltyTV, manager Phil Parkinson gave his views following our 5-1 defeat against Solihull Moors and spoke on the importance of the next few home games.

About The Opposition

Scunthorpe United, who previously spent 72 years in the Football League, were relegated to the National League last season after finishing bottom of League Two.

The club’s rich history, which more recently included two stints in the Championship, is certainly something to be admired. However, it’s been a tough introduction to the National League for interim manager and former Alty player Anthony Daws and his team. The Iron currently sit bottom of the table with six losses in their first seven league games.

Alty will be keeping a close eye on striker Joe Nuttall who’s already scored four goals in seven games. The 24-year-old, originally from Manchester, only managed two goals in 16 appearances last season but has got himself off to a good start in the National League scoring twice in their 4-3 defeat to Solihull Moors earlier this season.

Scunthorpe United will certainly provide Alty with a tough test on Tuesday night when we welcome them to The J.Davidson Stadium as we both look to move ourselves out of the bottom four.

Prior to our home fixture on Tuesday night, we will observe a one-minute silence and wear black armbands as a mark of respect for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Please note we do not accept cards on the turnstiles so please buy online in advance or use the ATM opposite the ground at the convenience store.

We kindly ask all supporters – home and away – to arrive early to ensure you are in the ground in plenty of time for kick-off and avoid late queues. 

Please note, all supporters will be searched with a metal detector on entry to the stadium for your own safety.
