Altrincham in search of league double over Oldham
By Joe Brayne
Altrincham make their way to Boundary Park on Good Friday for what will be a historic first competitive fixture for the Robins at Oldham Athletic’s home ground (3pm kick-off).
Alty bounced back from their Isuzu FA Trophy anguish with a resounding 4-0 victory over Runcorn Linnets in the Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final on Tuesday.
Goals from Ben Pringle, Regan Linney (2) and Aaron Bennett eased Alty past their Pitching In Northern Premier League Division One West opponents and into the club’s first Cheshire Senior Cup final in over a decade.
Tasked with a fifth match in just 13 days, Phil Parkinson’s side make the short trip to Oldham as they look to complete a Vanarama National League double over the former Premier League side.

About the Opposition
The Latics will have a point to prove on Good Friday after suffering a crushing 5-1 defeat to Wrexham on the road.
Defender Liam Hogan nodded a goal in before the break to make it 2-1, but Oldham struggled to produce anything in a second half rout against the National League leaders.
Worse yet for the visitors, they will be without their top scorer Mike Fondop-Talom (9) after the Cameroonian was sent off in the 89th minute for use of his elbow.
Nevertheless, Oldham’s performances at Boundary Park have been markedly superior to their efforts on the road. The Latics have accumulated 31 points from 19 games at home, virtually double the 16 points they have gathered from 21 away games.
The last meeting between the two sides saw Alty dig deep to produce a 1-0 victory at The J. Davidson Stadium, courtesy of Chris Conn-Clarke’s long-range thunderstrike.
The Robins will be without Conn-Clarke in the return fixture, however, after the Northern Ireland under-21 International was recalled by parent club Fleetwood in January.
Alty will be inspired by the opportunity to make club history on Friday, completing a league double over the first former Premier League team to play non-League football.
