A pre-Christmas cracker coming up this weekend

Alty play their penultimate Vanarama National League home game of 2024 against Sutton United on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

The play-off battle heats up

Any neutrals watching Altrincham’s previous fixture certainly got their money’s worth as a dramatic 3-3 draw occurred at Grosvenor Vale on Tuesday night. The midweek result put Altrincham one point outside the playoff positions in eighth, earning 31 points so far this campaign.

This weekend's opponents are the side directly above us in the table and, therefore, denying us a play-off spot at this moment in time. The Us have won three of their last four league matches and sit in seventh, with 32 points from 21 games.

After an inconsistent start to their campaign, our visitors have found the form that many would have expected them to enjoy after their relegation from League Two in 2023/24. They have not conceded in any of their previous four league games, highlighting the quality they possess.

The Gaffer

“It’s a benchmark game for me because they came down from the Football League and we got heavily beat at their place. I thought that scoreline didn’t reflect the overall performance, but it’s still a scoreline we have to look at to show that we’ve moved forward in the division.”

Last time against Sutton United

August 2024 – Altrincham’s heaviest defeat of this season came on the second week of the season and the last time we faced Sutton United.

Five unique goal-scorers helped The Us to a 5-0 victory, a result that the Robins will be keen to avenge this weekend.
