Wythenshawe FC U18 girls maintained their 100% record in the Cheshire Women & Youth League U18 Premier Division, picking up a 12th victory of the season with a 3-0 victory over Altrincham FC Women Elite U18.

It was a disastrous start at Partington Sports Village for Spencer O’Connor’s side, who conceded after just 38 seconds with Jess Stafford prodding the ball beyond Izabela Kleinszmit.

Altrincham battled well to keep the score two just one, despite the visitors striking the post, and forcing Kleinszmit into a smart save with her feet.

The second goal came with just two minutes remaining of the first half. Violet Norris produced a good finish from 20 yards into the top right corner. Stafford and Norris were at the heart of all Wythenshawe attacks in the first half, and both were deserving of their goals.

During the second half, Kleinszmit was kept busy and put in an exceptional performance, coming off her line quickly and producing a number of good saves.

The Robins grew into the half, with Francesca Boyle and Phoebe Gibson linking up well as a front two. Both had decent chances but were unable to pull a goal back.

Just as Altrincham looked like they were coming back into the game, Wythenshawe finished the game off. April Ratcliffe had a quiet first half but was more involved in the second, and scored with an outstanding finish from the edge of the box over Kleinszmit and into the bottom left corner.

Elsewhere, Altrincham FC Women were set to kick off the new year in the Alliance Design & Print Plate against Chorley Women Development, though for logistical reasons the match was played as a friendly at Heron Eccles in Liverpool.

The first half ended goalless, though Daryll Abrahams’ side had chances to open the scoring.

Altrincham took a 2-1 lead after the interval through Ashley Jones and Millie Kullu, though a defensive error saw Chorley equalise in the final minute.
