Altrincham FC Women are thrilled to announce the signing of goalkeeper Carmen Stephens on a season-long loan from Liverpool FC Women.

Obtaining a loan signing at step six from a Women’s Super League club is incredibly rare and owes to the hard work behind the scenes by Altrincham FC Women staff. Moreover, it is a testament to the environment and facilities offered at Altrincham FC Women that Liverpool have trusted their player to continue her development with the Robins.

Stephens, local to Altrincham, will train with the WSL side throughout the week before linking up with Daryll Abrahams’ side on Sundays for matches. She featured for the Robins in the opening pre-season friendly against Wythenshawe Town Women.

On the signing, Abrahams said: 

“The opportunity to dual-register Carmen from Liverpool FC was a no brainer. I am over the moon with the quality and level of such goalkeeper which will only strengthen and improve our in and out of possession plans for next season.

“Carmen is a goalkeeper who you can trust greatly and is so calm playing out of the back, happy to receive back to feet to relieve pressure from defenders and has a dynamic and varied passing length and ability.

“She is a great shot stopper and we can definitely rely on her in the big moments we will encounter this season.”
