Alty return to Vanarama National League action this midweek, traveling to the LNER Community Stadium to face fellow promotion contenders York City on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

Setting the Scene

Altrincham’s fine run in the Isuzu FA Trophy came to an end on Saturday after a 2-0 quarter-final defeat at Rochdale.

Jay Bird made the most of Rochdale’s fast start, opening the scoring in the first 15 minutes before Tarryn Allarakhia doubled Dale’s lead before half-time.

The Robins had a number of big chances in the second half, but superb goalkeeping from Sam Waller meant Alty couldn’t find a way back into the game.

Tuesday's opponents are title challengers York City. After narrowly escaping relegation last season, York have become one of the best sides in the division during the 2024/25 campaign so far.

Only Barnet have scored more goals than the Minstermen, and just three teams have conceded less. They also have the National League’s top scorer, Ollie Pearce, highlighting the difficulty of the challenge facing the Robins on Tuesday.

The thoughts of Neil Sorvel

“We've got another three very tough away games coming up, starting with York City on Tuesday.

"Our record against them over the last couple of seasons has been decent. We've been able to pick up points home and away, so hopefully we'll be able to continue that kind of form against them this week.”

Our first clash of 2024/25

November 2024 – A superb team performance saw Alty run out 3-0 winners in the last meeting between the two sides three months ago.

Regan Linney bagged two goals and Matty Kosylo scored the third, all in the first half, as the Robins claimed three points in front of over 2,000 fans at The J.Davidson Stadium.
